The Short Version
- We don't require accounts and we don't know who you are.
- IP addresses you look up are processed to answer your query and are not stored in any profile or history.
- Checking your own IP shows it to you; it is not saved anywhere.
- We don't sell, rent, or share data with anyone.
What We Process
Lookups. When you look up an IP address (including your own via "check my IP"), it is processed to produce the result and discarded. Lookups are not stored in any profile or history.
Rate limiting. To keep the free API fair, we count requests per visitor using a one-way hash of the IP address. These counters expire automatically within 48 hours and cannot be reversed into an IP address.
Server logs. Like virtually every website, our hosting infrastructure keeps standard access logs (IP, URL, timestamp, user agent) for security and abuse prevention. They rotate automatically.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic (pages visited, country, device type). Analytics may set cookies. We see aggregate statistics, never a profile of you as an individual. You can block analytics with any standard content blocker and the site works fully.
Preferences. Your light/dark theme choice is stored in your own browser (localStorage) and never transmitted.
Third Parties
- Google Analytics (traffic statistics), Google Fonts (typography). Both receive standard request metadata when your browser loads them.
- Our hosting provider processes traffic to serve the site.
No advertising networks, no tracking pixels, no social media embeds.
Your Rights
Since we hold no account data and no lookup histories tied to identities, there is usually nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you have any privacy question or request (including under GDPR), contact us at [email protected] and we will respond promptly.
